Minnie Mouse

When I saw the OPI Minnie Mouse collection, I knew that I needed a couple. Who doesn't love Minnie?? Once again, I wanted a few of the colors and not wanting to spend a fortune, decided to go with the mini collection. I have only used this one color, but love the colors, since I am a huge pink fan. The mini set did not come with the cute heart glitter polish, but came with the colors, The Color of Minnie, If you Moust, You Moust, and I'm All Ears.
The color I used was called If You Moust, You Moust. Looking at the bottle, I thought it was going to be a light pink, however once I got it on my nail, it was a lot darker than I had anticipated. Don't get me wrong, it was gorgeous, but just the color from the bottle is deceiving.
All in all, I really like this manicure, it's so pink and girly. I loved this stamp and was going to wait until Valentine's Day to bust it out, but just couldn't wait that long.

Pretty and Polished Haul

I had seen lots of hype around Pretty and Polished nail polish and I wanted so badly to get my hands on some. I had been checking pretty frequently her etsy shop and was always disappointed when they were out of stock of everything. I liked their page on Facebook and was able to get updates on their restocks and I was able to score some polish.

I have only tried a couple of these, but so far have been pleasantly surprised with the colors and formula. I can't wait to try the rest. I love the fact that she offers mini bottles of colors, it allows me to try more colors without having to spend so much money on the large bottles.

The colors that I was able to get were: Hello Dolly, Freedom Calling, Bayou Blitz, and Tuesday Taurus.

I used the Freedom Calling polish for my Olympic manicure and loved it. I am really excited to try the Bayou Blitz. Its lime green with all sorts of fantastic glitter in it. It kind of reminds me of the Floam color that is so popular. I hope to be doing some manicures soon using these colors.

Olympic Nails

I have seen all sorts of fun Olympic nails on different blogs that I check out. I wanted to do something to show my U.S.A support, so I decided to use my new Cheeky nail plates that I recently got in the mail.

I love watching the Olympics, it is amazing to watch what these athletes can accomplish. It really makes you proud to be an American, as cheesy as that sounds.

I have also loved to see all the Olympians and their fun manicures that they are sporting. But, back to the manicure at hand. I noticed after I did the star stamping that some of the stars didn't go on perfectly, but I think it still looked pretty cute. These are the first Cheeky stamps I have used and I have seen some of the sneak peeks of their new stamps and I am quite excited for those to come out and will definitely be purchasing them.

Stars and stripes forever.

The Details:

Red Polish: Sephora by OPI And a Cherry on Top

Blue Polish: Butter London Royal Navy

Stamping Polish: Konad Special White

White on Thumb: China Glaze White on White

Glitter Polish: Pretty and Polished Freedom Calling

After I got done, I wish I had done something different on my thumb, the royal blue and the bright blue on the glitter just didn't go together very well.

Pink Friday

I do love me some Nikki Minaj, maybe it is from the two adorable girls on Ellen, Sophia Grace and Rosie that sing Super Bass, but I'm not gonna lie, I dig her tunes and style. So when I saw that OPI came out with a Nicki Minaj line, I knew that I wanted to try them out. I knew I couldn't splurge on all of them and after reading reviews online, I decided that Pink Friday was my favorite.

Everyone who knows me, knows about my obsession with TJ Maxx, I find the best deals. If you are patient, you really can find some gems. I have found that it is a great resource to find nail polish. I have found all different brands, OPI, Essie, Bebe, Jessica, Deborah Lippmann etc. I would love to go in and find a shelf of China Glaze one of these days, but I won't complain with what I have been finding. Anywho......the other day in my trip to the Maxx, I spotted one lonely OPI Nikki Minaj mini set. I was pumped as they are generally $12.50 at Ulta and I scored the beauty for $6.99. Score 1 for the good guys!!

I really have started wanting to limit myself to 1-2 polishes per pay check, but that is easier said than done. Every time I go into a beauty supply store, I find new gorgeous polishes.

This manicure, I used OPI Pink Friday and then of course I needed to add a little blingy bling and for the accent nail used China Glaze Full Spectrum. I believe I used 2 coats to completely cover the polish and as you can see in the photos, I didn't get all of the pink covered, but nothing we can do about it now.

X-Marks the Spot

I meant to post something last night but of course I have been addicted to watching the Olympics. It is keeping me up late at night watching. Here in the U.S., we are watching it many hours after the actual events take place. Of course the news sources are wanting to ruin it for the rest of us viewers, so I have been trying to avoid spoilers on the news, facebook, and my husband (he gets ESPN alerts and can't keep a secret).

I did this manicure quite a while ago. It isn't my favorite, it's just "eh". It looked pretty cool and I really liked the green color. It is kind of an army green/gray color, very pretty. The color is part of the Pirates of the Caribbean collection.

My First Indie Manicure

I am new to this whole nail scene and when I first starting looking at websites and Pinterest, I had no idea of the magnitude of the Indie scene, nor how hard it was to get your hands on certain brands of these. Pretty and Polished was one of my favorite score some of them. I was able to get my hands on some from Llarowe.

This polish is Pretty and POlished Jawbreaker. Its a white polish with all sorts of color glitter. Once it was on, it kinda reminded me of melted chocolate chip ice cream. It was fairly opaque after 2 coats. I was able to get a couple of other polishes when they were in stock, so I hope to get those swatched soon. Overall, its a fun, pretty polish.

And I guess that's why they call it the Blues......

This manicure was last minute and not originally what I had wanted to do. I was planning on copying a manicure I saw on Pinterest, but it turned into an epic fail. The original manicure was a white nail with a gold tribal design. The gold stamping polish I have was not bright enough to show up on the white background. Oh well, I will continue searching for the perfect gold stamping polish.

So I changed it up and decided on the same design, different color. I screwed up my pointer finger and had to go meet my family for dinner and didn't have time to re-do it, so I turned it into a glitter accent nail.

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice

A few weeks ago, I ran to Kansas City for the Color Run with my sisters. Since we were there, we did a little shopping down on the Plaza. It was ridiculously hot so we ran to just a couple stores. While at Urban Outfitters, I discovered that the Model's Own nail polishes were on sale for $4.99 a piece. SCORE!!! They only had 3 colors so I bought all three of them.

This manicure is Aqua Violet Beetlejuice and stamped using Konad Special White. The stamp used was Bundle Monster-322. I just love the new Bundle Monster set, they have the cutest designs in this set.

Wallpaper My Nails

This manicure reminds me so much of wallpaper that you would find at your grandma's house. I got the pink color in the clearance bin at Ulta and so glad that I picked it up. It's definitely a favorite of mine. It goes on like a dream and is a beautiful metallic pink.
Here is a pic of the China Glaze polish that I used for this manicure. The name of the polish is Admire. I used Konad blacking stamping polish for the design and the stamp was Konad M83.

4th of July

I realize I am a few days late on posting this, but I guess it is still July. It was kind of a pain with the 4th this year falling on a Wednesday. First world problems, I know. Since my husband and I both had to work the following day, we didn't do anything too exciting. We went to my hometown to watch the parade and stayed for lunch with my family. The afternoon we came back and swam and watch the National Fourth Celebration. I think this might be the first year that I didn't see any fireworks in person. We heard plenty of them from bed that night. Yes, we are turning into old folks. Back to the manicure......I saw so many cool Americana inspired nails, I was at a loss for what to do. I ended up with a mish mash of stamps and glitter.

I used to have such a thing for OPI polishes, but I am loving China Glaze so much more. The

Purple Polka Dot

I bought some dotting tools a few months ago, however I recently got a polka dot stamp that I wanted to try. It worked pretty well. I have been experimenting with non-Konad stamping polishes as I wanted to see if any of them worked for stamping. I heard the Insta-Dri Sally Hansen polishes worked well for stamping. I haven't had the best luck with them. I did however find a Sally Hansen Salon Manicure polish on the clearance rack and it worked pretty well for stamping.
The next photo is taken in full sunlight. As you can see, pre-clean up. These were taken a while back and since then I have gotten much better about cleaning up my nails pre-photo shoot.

Chevron Nails

After a long work week, I was neglectful of my new blog. Although, I guess my computer is also to blame. I haven't used my laptop in a while, after much frustration, my husband agreed to fix it and after two nights of 78 different updates, it's back up and running. This manicure I did a while back. I got the Konad stamping system a while ago and I instantly fell in love with it. It still takes quite a bit of trial and error getting everything lined up, but for a girl with little artistic talent, it fools people into thinking I do. I have purchased quite a few Konads as well as fauxnads and so far, haven't found one that I have had trouble with. I have recently found some fantastic buys at TJ Maxx. My whole family makes fun of me because everytime they comment on my shirt, purse, jewelry, etc, I say that I got it at TJ Maxx. Well recently in my shopping ventures, I have found some great deals on nail polish. I have found Jessica sets, Bebe and OPI. This manicure uses one of the Bebe polishes.
Excuse this next picture, I hadn't cleaned my nails up.
For this manicure, I used these products: Nail polish: Bebe Atomic Stamping Polish: Konad Black Top Coat: Jessica Stamp: Bundle Monster 201

Caviar Nails

On a recent trip to Sephora with my mom, I saw Ciate's Nail caviar. The look intrigued me and I wanted to try them out, but the $25.00 price tag didn't appeal to me. My mom however wanted to treat me. I didn't feel good about it, but she insisted and we all know not to mess with our mom's, so I graciously accepted.
Sephora had 3 colors to choose from. I am more of a bright and colorful kinda gal so I went with the color of the above posted pic. I felt that doing all of my nails with this would have been a little much for a 30 year old woman, so I decided to do an accent nail on my ring finger. First off, I loved the pink color that the kit came with. The instructions were very easy to follow and while my attempt wasn't perfect, I thought it turned out pretty cool. Excuse the photo, it was from my phone and I hadn't cleaned up my nails yet.
While I think that the kit is pretty cool, the price tag is a little ridiculous. After I bought it, I went onto Pinterest and found some good ideas on how to get the look for less. You don't need any special nail polish to get the look, any polish will do. They sell those microbeads at most craft stores. I went and got a set from Michaels from the Martha Stewart collection for a hell of a lot cheaper than the kit. But I am glad I have the kit, it came with a tray and a funnel to get those beads back in the jar.

Welcome My Friends

I first would like to introduce myself, I am Bridget. I am 30 and live in Central Iowa. I am a tomboy that likes to dress up and wear my make up. I enjoy being outside, but want to look good while I do it. Last year, I got a Konad nail stamp. I bought it off of amazon for pretty cheap and didn't think that it would probably work worth a damn. But to my surprise and after getting many tips from some helpful youtube videos, I learned that the nail stamp worked great and for little time, could make my nails look fabulous. I have decided to make a blog to showcase my nails. After reading many nail blogs on the internet, I am humbled because there are some amazing artists out there. I have little to NO artistic ability, but I love painting my nails and blinging them out. I will also showcase some of my other favorite beauty supplies and styles. I will show you what I am loving and what I am hating.
